As i am carrying out my research process i will be finding out if my ideas are relevant to my target audience and the demographics of my media text.

Research About Music Videos

A music video is a short film or video that accompanies a complete piece of music/song. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. Although the origins of music videos go back much further, they came into their own in the 1980s, when MTV based their format around the medium, and later with the launch of VH1. The term "music video" first came into popular usage in the early 1980s. Prior to that time, these works were described by various terms including "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional (promo) clip" or "film clip". In Chinese entertainment, music videos are simply known as MTVs because the network was responsible for bringing music videos to its popularity.
Music videos use a wide range of styles of film making techniques, including animation, live action filming, documentaries, and non-narrative approaches such as abstract film. Some music videos blend different styles, such as animation and live action.

Paramore - Decode


this video is my one of my favourites because it is for my favourite film Twilight. this video is relevant to the film it was written for because some of the film was in the woods and it was written to go with the song. i love this video also because of all the different shot types and the way that they have incorporated scenes from the film makes it even better.

Lady GaGa - Love Game

i dont really like the song but i like the video the way that Lady GaGa doesnt care what she wears and tries to look as outrageous as possible which makes her videos look really cool. i would like my music video to be as well made as this one.

Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me

i love this music video because of the way that all of Taylor Swifts music videos have a story them like this one. i want my video to have a backstory to it so i have chosen this song becuase it is a fun and modern song that you can dance to. this video is also one of my favourites because it has a fun theme to it.

Owl City - Fireflies




i love this video it is really cool because i like it when all of the things in his room turn on and are going off around him and it looks really good. his genre is techno and all technology is around him i think it is very effective.

Linkin Park - New Divide

this song is my favourite song in the whole wide world and i love the way that it is made with all the special effects and the way that incorporated the Transformers into it. it is also very good when becuase they actually filmed a bit of their video on the set of Transformers 2. if i wanted to do a music video like this i wouldnt be able to because it would take too long and i dont have the technology to make it.
